Lace em up!! After a one year hiatus-It's that time of the year again. The one and only original SING TAO Asian 3on3 Basketball Championships. This year's edition, the 6th annual is scheduled to take place in Columbus Park on July 29-30. Once again, we are looking forward to another record setting turnout. Back in 1998, 232 teams were accepted (over 300 entries submitted) to hoop it up for the title of 3on3 Champions in one of our exciting divisions. Don't be disappointed - SIGN UP EARLY.

THE 6TH ANNUAL SING TAO / METLIFE 3on3 ASIAN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
IS MAKING A RETURN ENGAGEMENT TO COLUMBUS PARK ON JULY 29th - 30th
(Saturday/Sunday) , the site of the largest Asian 3on3 in the U.S. (232 teams
in 1998). This year’s edition looks to be another blockbuster as we set a new
record for the 21st century.

YOU CAN PLAY IN THIS 3on3
That’s absolutely right, anyone that enjoys the game of hoops can play in this
3on3. It doesn’t matter if you play once a week, once a month, or occasionally.
Each team (four players) is placed in a division and competes against other
teams of the same skill level. Divisions are set up according to players skill
level/playing ability, age, height, etc. Each team is guaranteed to play in at
least three games (two preliminary and one playoff) with the top teams
advancing to their exciting divisional championships. Individual trophies and
other great 3on3 prizes will be awarded to all our divisional champions and
runners-up.

CHOOSE THE DIVISION THAT BEST SUITS YOUR TEAM
This year we are offering teams a chance to choose the division that is best
suited for your team. You’ll make a first choice, second choice, and a third
choice. Then, we’ll do our best to accomodate your selection. but we still
reserve the right to place your team in a division that we think your team
belongs in.

HOOP ACTION FANFEST
Players and spectators alike will have the opportunity to show us their shooting skills in a variety of contests going on throughout the weekend.

CATHAY PACIFIC 3-pt. SHOOTOUT- take a chance and see how many trifectas
you can make in 30 seconds. the top shooters will advance to the championship round
for a chance to win a round-trip ticket to hong kong.

TRICITY INSURANCE FOUL SHOT - A free shot right? put your money where your
mouth is. let’s see how many you can make in a row. the top free throw shooters
compete for NBA merchandise.

MANNA HOUSE BAKERY SHOOTAROUND - do you have the shooter’s touch?
there’s eight spots on the floor to see if can light it up. the top finishers will compete
for the grand prize: 25” color t.v.

WHAT YOU GET
You’ve seen them all over - in school, at the park, and in the mall. it’s the
official commemorative 3on3 t-shirt. Every player gets one. If you have played
in the 3on3 before, then you know that our t-shirts are the coolest basketball
gear around. It’s designed by john lee designs and have become collector’s
items. The only way to get one is to sign up your team for the one and only
original sing tao 3on3 asian basketball championships.

HOW TO SIGN UP
1) Fill out the entire entry form, incomplete entry forms will not be accepted and will be returned.
2) All participants must sign the completed entry forms. Players under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign also.
3) Mail all completed entry forms along with a self-addressed stamped envelope with entry fee payable to: New York ROCKITS AIA, 36 Market St., #3, NYC, NY 10002.
All teams will be notified by mail or check our website for confirmation.
4) All entries must be received by Friday, July 21, 2000. No entries will be accepted after this date.
5) All entries must be received via mail. Entries that are dropped off or hand delivered will not be accepted.

Ages 10-15: $64 per team Ages 16-22: $72 per team Ages 18-Up: $80 per team

Space is extremely limited and entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Once divisions are filled up, we are unable to accept any other entries whether they were sent/received before the deadline. Deadline: Friday, July 21, 2000 @ 6PM.
CAPTAIN’S MEETING - Wednesday, July 26, 2000
Each team is required to be represented at the captain’s meeting to pick up their schedule of games. The meeting time is 6:30PM at the Chinatown YMCA, 100 Hester Street, NYC, NY, 10002. Only one person per team should attend this meeting since space is limited. Check our site for directions.

To Meeting By Subway: B or D train to Grand St. and walk 1 block to Hester St. going towards Chinatown.
By Car from Brooklyn or Queens: Williamsburg bridge to Manhattan. You will now be on Delancey St. Go straight on Delancey to Chystie St. Make left turn and continue past Grand St. The Chinatown YMCA is on the next block - Hester Street.

OFFICIAL 3on3/STREETBALLRULES
1) Each team will consist of a maximum of four players. All players must be of Asian descent. If there is any doubt, send proof (birth cert., passport, etc.).
2) A player may only play on one team in the tournament. He or she can not participate in more than one division. Teams found violating this rule will be disqualified immediately. All rosters are final at time of submittence. No changes will be allowed regardless of injury.
3) We reserve the right to verify a player’s nationality, age, height, and playing experience. Each player is required to have some form of I.D. on days of the tournament. Failure to do so will result in forfeit or removal from the tournament.The burden of proof is on you.
4) All teams will be guaranteed to play in at least three scheduled games.
Beginning with the Playoff Round - the format will be single elimination.
5) Each game will have a time limit of 20 minutes or the first team to score 30 points (17-under divisions = 15 minutes or first to score 25 points). The last minute of regulation time will be stop time. Overtime is 1 minute running, 1 minute stop time. Alternate possession after each basket.
6) Scoring: 2 points for baskets made inside the 3 point line; 3 points for each basket made outside the 3-point arc. Foul shots are worth 1 point each.
7) Each player is allowed five personal fouls. After fouling out, a player can not reenter game. Technical fouls count as team and personal fouls. All technical fouls are two shots and the ball. One and one begins on the team’s ninth foul. Two shot bonus begins on the team’s 13th foul.
8) Two timeouts per game and does not carry into overtime. Overtime = 1 timeout.
9) Absolutely no fighting is allowed. Subject to dismissal from the tournament.
10) We reserve the right to reduce the number of scheduled games, or shorten games, postpone or cancel event due to rain or unforseen circumstances. Raindates to be announced.
11) Referees provided by the New York Rockits Athletes In Action. Certified IAABO referees will make the calls in the Championship Round.
12) Absolutely no refunds will be given.
13) Each team must wear same color shirts, preferably with numbers.
14) All other rules and decisions will be determined by the organizing committee.

ASIAN BASKETBALL - GET IN THE GAME

1st Annual ASIANHOOPS.COM 5on5 Streetball Champions Cup

Place: Roosevelt Park B-ball Courts, P.S. 1 B-ball Courts
Time: 8:30am - 7:00pm

It's 5on5 basketball and you're invited to enter your team in the 1st Annual WWW.ASIANHOOPS.COM 5on5 Streetball Champions Cup. Patterned after many of the international Asian basketball tournaments held in Asia, this event will offer established competitive teams and newly formed teams the opportunity to showcase their individual/team skills in 5on5 basketball. The tournament will feature two divisiosns of play: 1) MEN'S OPEN (
12 team limit) and 2) MEN'S RECREATION (12 team limit). So sign up if you've got a team or just a bunch of friends that want to pla1y some 5on5. SIGN UP has already begun and tournament will be closed as soon as tourney limit is reached or until Saturday, July 29th, whichever comes first.

1st Annual HIGH SCHOOL Asian Community Basketball League
Dates: Saturday Mornings (9am-Noon), September thru December

Looking for some hoop action in the winter can be tough. Well, we've decided to revive the High School Asian Community Basketball League (previously staged in 1996 and 1997) and offer students an opportunity to hoop it up during the winter season. You can enter as a team or individually. Additional information and entry forms for this event will be coming soon.
