DIRECTIONS to TORNE VALLEY From the Highways: (NYC, South Jersey) Take Route 17 North to the end. Take NY State Thruway towards Albany. Go less than one mile and take Exit 15A "Sloatsburg/Rte 59". Make a right at end of exit ramp onto Rte 59 south. Proceed about 1/2 mile and go over metal bridge (which goes over the RR tracks). Go a short distance to your first left. **(a landmark directly across from Torne Valley Road is Franks Auto Body). Make that left onto Torne Valley Road. Proceed on Torne Valley Road for approximately 3/4 mile and you will see the complex on the left.
From Suffern and points north: (Binghamton, Boston) Follow Rte 59 through the village, take a right at the light (facing the train tracks) and follow toward Hillburn. You will see Irelands Restaurant on your right and shortly after Franks Auto Body on your left, where you will take a right onto Torne Valley Road. Summer is just around the corner as ASIANHOOPS.COM is proud to be hosting the 12th Annual 5on5 FRIENDSHIP CUP on the weekends of June 16-17 and June 23-24. This year's edition will feature six divisions of play from boys 13u thru men's 45+ over. In 2011, over 48 teams played with names like Extraterrestrials and We Ate Air Bud.

AWARDS The Champions 5on5 Friendship Cup will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place teams.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT Divisions will be made up of either a 4 team or 6 teams only. NEW FORMAT: Each division of play will field a maximum of six teams. (A six team division will be divided into two groups of three teams each. Each group plays against those in their own group for a chance to play in the championship. Bottom line, even if you lose one game you still got a chance to play in the "CHIP" unlike in past editions if you lose one game you can't play in the "CHIP").
Each team must wear uniforms that are of the same color and with numbers designated on the front or back. Failure to do so will result in technical fouls for each player without the proper color and a number.
WHO CAN PLAY: The Basketball Tournament is open to all teams and players of Asian Oriental descent. Players must be at least 50% Oriental Asian to be eligible to play. Questions on ethnicity and eligibility should be brought to the attention of the organizer prior to submitting rosters to avoid any conflicts. The definition of a player of Oriental descent is as follows: at least one grandparent must be of 100% Oriental heritage. (Oriental nationalities are as follows: Chinese, Filipinos, Koreans,Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Japanese)
BURDEN OF PROOF: Organizers will request proof from all players that may be in question. Proper documentation will be required. Illegible copies will not be accepted. The burden of proof is on you to prove your ethnicity (Playing in a tournament previously hosted by us does not mean you are eligible to play at this event).
AGE CHECK: There will be a age check for participants in the Boys 18u, Boys 15u, and Boys 13u divisions. In addition, 35+ and 45+ over divisions.

FORMING A TEAM - Each team (four players) is placed in a division selected by yourself and competes against other teams of the same skill level. Divisions are set up according to a players skill level & playing ability, age, height, etc. Each team is guaranteed to play at least 3 games (2 preliminary and one playoff). The top teams advancing through the playoff/championship round may play 4-6 games during the day. Individual trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams.

JUST FOR FUN HOOSIER (East/West/North)- For those players and teams who play only occasionally and play just for fun. All players on a team must be of the same skill level. (Be fair, and rate your team carefully) Players playing in the competitive levels should not be playing in this division. Past winners of this division should be playing in Park Baller, Blacktop 1 or 2, or a higher division.
FIVE FOOT TEN AND UNDER (Recreation) - Exactly what it says. Forget six foot, Asians are usually shorter. With all teams about the same size, there's a chance for anyone to win. Height will be checked at the tournament site. Reminder, this is for guys with limited hoop specifications.
RECREATIONAL - AGE RESTRICTIVE
SENIOR 33+ (33+ over) - Strictly for those who are 33+ over, play occasionally, and want to compete against others the same age.
OLD SCHOOL (45+ over) - Strictly for those teams with players over the age of 45 who still love to play the game
BLUE CHIP (18 to 22) - Strictly for those who are under 18 to 22 yrs. old at tournament time

SOMEWHAT COMPETITIVE WOMENS OPEN (A or B) - Our top rated women's division. For those who want to compete against the best with no age restrictions
CAGER GOLD - For those who play occasionally and are somewhat competitive
BLACKTOP 1 & 2 - Another step up from the Park Baller and Hoosier divisions.
PARK BALLER - This division is a step up from the Hoosier division. (In the past, if your team has performed exceptionally well in the Hoosier division, then it is time to move your team to this division)
FIVE FOOT TEN AND UNDER (ELITE) - This is the elite 5'10 and under and you got to bring your A-game. If you think you've got game and meet the height restrictions then let's see if you got some skills, little man. Height will be checked at the tournament site.
COMPETITIVE ALL-STAR - Our top rated division. For those that want to compete against the best - many of which have played at the high school or college level or those that know they can hang with anyone.
STREETBALL - Our second highest rated division. For those who want to play competitive teams and can hang with almost anyone in the playground
What are the dates of the 3on3? a) July 23-24, and July 30-31, 2011.
When is the team entry deadline? a) All completed entries via the internet must be received by 6pm on July 14, 2011.
Can I play in more than one division? Yes you can. However, you are only allowed to play in certain divisions. Let me explain. If you are playing in one of the competitive divisions, then you shouldn't be playing in the Hoosier (Just For Fun) divisions.
If I'm playing in the All Star division, which other divisions can I play in? a) You can play in one or more of these divisions: Streetball, Cager, Seniors 30+, Blacktop, 5'10" Elite, or any of the age restrictive divisions . But you shouldn't play in a division where you are that much better than someone.
Can I play in the All Star division and the Hoosier Division? a) Absolutely not. If you are playing in the All Star division, why would you want to play against players who aren't as good.
Which divisions are play for fun? a) The Hoosier division, 5 ft. 10 and under recreation division, are for players playing just for fun.
What happens if I'm scheduled to play in two separate divisions at the same time? a) We will not postpone or change any games after the schedule is completed. It is up to you to attend the games.
Does my team need to wear the same color uniforms with numbers? a) Yes. It would make the referee's job that much easier.
Can I add or change a player from the original entry form that was submitted? a) You can add or change a player up until Thursday, July 14th. There will be a $10 player change fee for each change prior to July 14th. After this date, no changes will be allowed on the rosters/entry form due to injury or any other matter. Teams found to be using any illegal player not on the roster/entry will be disqualified from the tournament immediately.
How can I add or change a player? a) On the 3on3 page, click onto the player change/add form and download a form. Pay the $10 player change fee online with a paypal account or credit card. Then fax it to us at so that we can attach it to your roster/entry.

We reserve the right to verify a players nationality, age, height, and playing experience. Each player is required to have some form of I.D. on days of the tournament. Failure to do so will result in forfeit or removal from the tournament.The burden of proof is on you. 4. All teams will be guaranteed to play in at least three scheduled games. Beginning with the Playoff Round - the format will be single elimination. 5. Each game will have a time limit of 20 minutes or the first team to score 30 points (Hoosier Divisions, Womens/Girls divisions and 17-under divisions = 15 minutes or first to score 25 points). The last minute of regulation time will be stop time (clock stops on made baskets). Overtime is 1 minute running, 1 minute stop time. Alternate possession after each basket. 6. Scoring: 2 points for baskets made inside the 3 point line; 3 points for each basket made outside the 3-point arc. Foul shots are worth 1 point each and players will not line up in the lane. 7. Each player is allowed five personal fouls. After fouling out, a player can not reenter game. Technical fouls count as team and personal fouls. All technical fouls are two shots and the ball. One and one begins on the teams ninth foul. Two shot bonus begins on the teams 13th foul. 8. Two timeouts per game and does not carry into overtime. Overtime = 1 timeout. 9. Absolutely no fighting is allowed. Subject to dismissal from the tournament. 10. We reserve the right to reduce the number of scheduled games, or shorten games, postpone or cancel event due to rain or unforseen circumstances. Raindates to be announced. 11. Referees provided by the New York Rockits Athletes In Action. Certified IAABO referees will make the calls in the Championship Round. 12. Practice sessions are conducted by the motivated coaching staff of the New York Rockits Athletes In Action. Heading the program is Richard "Quan" Wong who has coached some of the best Asian Chinese ballers that have ever played from the NY/NJ area. He is ably assisted by Coach Mike Mei (Baruch High School JV/Young Life Rockits 18u), a hard working young coach on the rise.
Practices/tryouts are held weekly on Sunday mornings at Middle School 56 located at 220 Henry Street (between Montgomery St/Clinton St). from 9am-10:45am. Parents are welcome to drop off and return later to pick up.
The New York Lady Rockits will be tipping off their 2011 basketball program beginning on Sunday, January 2, 2010 at Middle School 56 located at 220 Henry Street from 12:30pm-3:00pm.

ASIANHOOPS.COM SPONSORED EVENTS RULES, REGULATIONS, and TOURNAMENT FORMAT
NCAA rules apply in all games subject to the following modifications: 1. Each team will play in at least three games throughout the tournament. Upon completion of the preliminaries, teams will advance into the playoff round dependent of their seeding. 2. The length of each game is 18 minutes per half. The first half is running time with the last 15 seconds stop time. The last two minutes of the game is stop time. During the last minute, the clock stops on all made baskets and any whistles by the referee. 3. Overtime will be as follows: 3 minutes total with the last minute=stop time. 4. Each team will be entitled to three (3) time outs per game. They do not carry over into overtime. Each team is allowed one time out in the overtime period. Halftime is three (3) minutes. 5. One and one situation will be in effect on the seventh (7) team foul. Two shots will be awarded on the tenth (10) team foul. Players may enter the free throw lane on the release of the ball, while the shooter waits until it hits. 6. Each team must begin the game with five players. After fouling out, a player may not reenter 7. Each player is allowed five (5) personal fouls and on the fifth foul that player will be disqualified. If a team has less than five players on the court, they can continue to play or forfeit or until the team has less than two players. 8. Flagrant fouls will be penalized with foul shots and/or ejection from the tournament. Fighting is strictly forbidden and players and/or teams may be disqualified from the tournament. The following penalties will be assessed immediately: 1st fight - player or players will be disqualified from the tournament. 2nd fight - team will be disqualified from the tournament. Other penalties to follow. 9. A team not ready to start their game will forfeit. Teams are required to be present (1/2 hour prior) at the designated court for their game. 10. Each team must wear uniforms that are of the same color and with numbers designated on the front or back. Failure to do so will result in technical fouls for each player without the proper color and a number. Each team should have two sets of colored shirts (one light color and one dark color). 11. When asked, all participants must be able to present some type of photo identification (passport, birth certificates, etc.) that proves their age or nationality. If a protest is lodged, the burden of proof is on you to prove otherwise. Failure to do so will result in your disqualification from the game and tournament. All protests must be lodged by the coach and/or team captain by notifying the tournament coordinator in the respective gym before the start of any scheduled game. 12. Players may only participate on one team. Any player caught playing on another team within the same tournament will result in the disqualification of himself and that other team from the tournament. 13. After the jump ball to begin the game, all ties ups will be decided by the alternate possession rule. 14. NO DUNKING IS PERMITTED DURING ANY WARM UP TIME OR ANYTIME, EXCEPT DURING THE GAME. Teams will be assessed technical fouls for this infraction. 15. TEAM FORFEITS: Any team that forfeits a game either by not showing up on time or walking off the court during a game may be disqualified from the tournament pending the approval of the tournament director. 16. Tie breaking Procedure: two-team tie - head to head, win/loss between the two teams tied. Three-team tie - head to head among three teams tied, then total point differential of the three teams tied against each other. If two teams are tied after this, go back to head to head. Further ties, total point differential of teams in your division. Four team ties - settle the highest ranking team first, then revert back to three team tie break rules, and so on. Point differential is capped at maximum of twenty (20) per game. 17. Only players of at least 50% Oriental Asian descent are eligible to participate in the tournament. The definition of a player of Oriental decent is as follows: at least one parent must be of 100% Oriental heritage. (Oriental nationalities are as follows: Chinese, Filipinos, Koreans, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Japanese) The burden of proof is on the player. If a player's eligibility is challenged, then he/she must present documentation that is legible (questions - please email us). 18. Food and Drink: Please refrain from bringing food/drinks inside the gymnasium. They should be consumed outside in the lobby/meeting areas. In addition, please throw all garbage in there proper receptacles. Repeated violations will be penalized accordingly. 19. Conduct: Each team is responsible for the conduct of its players, fans, etc. 20. Eligibility Protest Procedures: Teams must submit eligibility protest to referee and tournament coordinator prior to the start of game Each protest must include a fee of $50 in cash payable to the tournament organizer. If protest is valid and upheld, your $50 will be refunded. If your protest is invalid or you are wrong, then the $50 will not be refunded.
WHO CAN PLAY: The GIVE ME 5 Basketball Tournament is open to all teams and players of Asian Oriental descent. Players must be at least 50% Oriental Asian to be eligible to play. Questions on ethnicity and eligibility should be brought to the attention of the organizer prior to submitting rosters to avoid any conflicts. The definition of a player of Oriental descent is as follows: at least one grandparent must be of 100% Oriental heritage. (Oriental nationalities are as follows: Chinese, Filipinos, Koreans,Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Japanese)

Now, it's time for YOU TO PLAY: Mark it down on your calendar - Saturday & Sunday, April 16-17, and April 30-May 1, 2011 - its the weekends of the 13TH ANNUAL ASIAN BASKETBALL CLASSIC. This year's edition will be held at Citysports on 4 in Englewood, New Jersey.
The tournament will feature EIGHT (8) divisions of play: MEN'S AAA, MEN'S A1, MEN'S A2, MEN'S B, BOYS 18-UNDER, BOYS 15-UNDER, BOYS 13-UNDER AND WOMEN'S OPEN. Players and teams of all abilities are welcome to participate in a division that's best suited for them. Each team is guaranteed to play in at least 3 games with teams that advance to the playoff round playing 4-5 games.

HISTORY OF THE ABC CLASSIC - First held in 1997 & 1998 at the College of Staten Island, many of the best teams from the east coast have participated in this competitive tournament. How To Sign Up NOTE: Due to a limited number of courts at each facility, teams will be accepted on a first paid basis with preference given to those teams participating in the upcoming NACBA National Tournament. Deadline: On a first paid basis or until divisions are filled. Only checks paid prior to deadline or payment by credit card or paypal will be accepted. TOURNAMENT FORMAT: Each team is guaranteed to play three games in the tournament with teams advancing into the playoff round playing possibly 4 or 5 total games. (Each division of six or eight teams will be divided into groups of three or four teams each for the round robin preliminary round. In a 8 team division, the top two from each group will advance to the playoff/championship round. For a 6 team division, top two teams advance into the playoff/championship round. Format subject to change.) REFEREES: Certified I.A.A.B.O. referees or referees in training will officiate each game.

THE BALL IS IN YOUR HANDS - HOOP SEASON IS FINALLY HERE. ASIANHOOPS.COM invites your team to play in the 3rd ANNUAL "GIVE ME 5" Tip Off Classic.
The 2009 edition will be different from years past as the tournament will be conducted over two weekends at various sites (but rest assured that each division will be played on one day at one site).
On the weekend of November 14-15, the tournament site visits Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey. Games will be played at the Bill Bradley Recreation Center (4 courts). On Saturday, November 14th, the Boys 18u, Men's B/C, Men's 30+over, and Men's 40+over tip it off first. On Sunday, the Men's A & Men's B will get their chance to vie for the coveted championship. On December 19th, we'll be at Citysports on 4 (2 courts) in Englewood, New Jersey and it'll be the Men's AAA division and Women's Open that will showcase some of the top Asian ballers from the tristate area vie for supremacy and braggin rights.
New to this year's tournament will be a Men's 30+ over division and a Men's 40+ over division. With so many players still hoopin it up in these age groups, it is only befitting that we have divisions specifically for them. Hey, we (I) may not jump as high or run as fast as we used too, but we (I) still love to play the game (But seriously, who wants to chase a twenty something year old around on the court).
This year's tournament will feature eight (8) divisions of play: MEN'S AAA, MEN'S A, MEN'S B, MEN'S 30+over, Men's Masters 40+over, Boys 18-under, Boys 13-under and a Women's Open division. Players and teams of all abilities are welcome to participate in a division that's best suited for them. Each team is guaranteed to play in at least 3 games with teams that advance to the playoff round playing 4-5 games (certain divisions only).
So start assembling your team and hitting those courts for some practice time. The deadline to register your team is Monday, November 2, 2009. Divisions are only limited to a certain amount of teams, teams will be accepted to play on a first paid basis. Once divisions are filled - that's it.

BOY'S 18U (limit 4-8 teams) - exactly like it says - players aged 18 and under only. This division will feature players and teams on the rise in the Asian hoop scene.
MEN'S B/C (limited 4-6 teams) - the ideal division for teams who are just starting out and may not be as experienced in 5on5 basketball. (slightly competitive)
MEN'S 30+OVER (limited 4-6 teams) - there's a first for everything and this is the first. All players must be aged 30+over to participate in this division. (Somewhat competitive)
MEN'S 40+OVER (limited to 4 teams) - Another first time division. All Players must be aged 40+over to participate in this division. (Recreation)

MEN'S A (limit 6-8 teams) - This division is perfect for those teams that are on the rise or those veteran laden senior teams that are more experienced and still got some game. (Competitive)
MEN'S B (limit 6-8 teams) - This division is for those teams who are somewhat competitive but don't play as much as they would like to. Also ideal for teams with players that are 30+ and up and teams getting together for some weekend fun. This division is also suited for those 18U teams with some game. (Somewhat competitive)

WOMEN'S OPEN (limit 4-6 teams) - Another opportunity for the Women/Girls to hoop it up. A minimum of four teams will be needed to start. A special price for the Women's division is $250.
MEN'S AAA (limit 6-9 teams) - Our elite division, this is where the best teams from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, and the east coast compete for bragging rights. This is the division where many former/current high school/college standouts compete against the best. Bring it on. (Very competitive)
It's the week before Christmas, and the perfect opportunity to hoop it up. While you're playing, the girlfriends/wives can shop at the numerous malls in the surrounding area.
SITE LOCATIONS Ramapo College is located in Mahwah, New Jersey. All games are played on campus, under one roof at the Bill Bradley Basketball Arena. Great college facilities with (4) courts, air-conditioned gyms, locker rooms, concession stand, lounge area, convenient parking and close to all major highways, hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls. www.ramapo.edu
AWARDS: (11) Individual trophies or awards for 1st place and a Championship trophy. Team trophy for 2nd place. TOURNAMENT FORMAT: Each team is guaranteed to play three games in the tournament with teams advancing into the playoff round playing possibly 4 or 5 total games. Each division of six or eight teams will be divided into groups of three or four teams each for the round robin preliminary round. In a 8 team division, the top two from each group will advance to the playoff/championship round. For a 6 team division, all teams advance into the playoff/championship round. REFEREES: Certified I.A.A.B.O. referees or referees in training will officiate each game.
